CTB has announced they have come out with a web based monitoring system for the Quantum controller on their dryer line and should be available sometime this summer. This means you can monitor your dryer anywhere you have internet service including from you smart phone or IPad device. This is a great development as many of you have had questions about when this would be available. The literature attachment below contains some basic information. For those of you that have interest, we are currently waiting on pricing and will get that information to you as soon as we receive finalization from Brock. Obviously, you will have to install an internet connection to your Quantum via wired connection, from there it can be routed through a wireless device to a nearby modem.

Our first T-L irrigation units are currently being installed. We are hoping to have a detailed usage report for the end of the year to share and show some input costs and bushel increases. Surprisingly demand has been strong and dryer sales have been greater than expected. As it continues to rain throughout the Midwest most farmers that we have talked to remain optimistic. We have had some discussions regarding the wet year in 2009 and how vital drying systems were, given the wet planting season and late harvest. We think it would be prudent to keep this in mind early in 2013 and have a plan B if we would have a similar year planting/harvesting. HFS has stocked new fans and heaters (centrifugal and vane) as a precaution as well as several used continuous flow dryers, heaters, and fans. It is never a bad idea to install a low temp burner on your air drying bin just in case the ambient air temp is lower during the drying process. Also it is never too early to schedule your preseason dryer check. We have a new checkoff sheet for your SQ and tower dryers from Brock you can keep for your records and reference.
